Spectacle Island

This is a Fallout 4 settlement build, made completely within the game with the tools and resources available to the player. Some mods were used to allow more structures within the settlement and such. For a more thorough run-down of the build, watch my video at the bottom of the page.

The goal of the build was to build a town which looked alive and real, and most importantly fit into the Fallout universe. I went around and had a look at the structures bethesda built for settlements, then tried to emulate the look. The end result was a neat fallout-esque shanty town, with a bustling marketplace and visually thriving community.

My initial work on the settlement was gauging the amount and locations of relatively flat ground to build on, and planning where the central point of the town would be, to help plan what buildings would go where and give me an idea of how big I could make structures.

I took discarded pieces of ‘pre-war’ buildings and incorporated them into the town buildings, to make it look like the houses and sheds in the town were built on the same locations as pre-war structures or using pieces scavenged from the same.

I’m pleased with how the build turned out, but have been planning on going back to it to add some more shacks and general clutter, since there’s still a lot of empty space, which distracts from the lived in look I wanted. However, I am pleased with it for now, and am not planning on going back to it for some time.
